Joy is in the Lord, whether in a prison, awaiting lions to consume you or just the ordinary stress of life today.

Love you Mandi

The Bible does show us the way through hard times and sad times; not just the good times. I would be in a very different place without God and His Word. John Piper said/wrote it well in your link.

So, I'll write about a different source; an everyday person finding her way through this life.

"...be glad you can feel enough to cry..." This is a line from a song entitled "Song of Long Ago"; words and music by Carole King. And, I say woe to those who do not have enough heart and soul to cry - cry for others and, yes, even cry for themselves. I believe sadness can be seen as a sign of strength, not always weakness. I take it to the Lord in prayer to determine whether my times of sadness are a good thing or bad.

Another one of her song's entitled "Bitter with the Sweet" reminds you to not let it get you down. The song ends with:

"...So, don't let it get you down, my friend, though it seems the blues will never end
On this you can depend, they always do
And I can tell you that it's true,
it's a feeling that can't be beat
And you've got to do it,
you've got to take the bitter with the sweet."

In other words, be happy and look forward to tomorrow even while you are working your way through "the blues". And, pray, pray, and pray some more!

Love you lots!
